It starts from a small school of birds to huge flocks that clutters across the sky. Accumulating up to 350 different bird species that pass by in their southward migration happens in the middle of March and May and the travel of the birds northward migration that happens in the middle of August and October. It would be best to got to Cyprus around spring time where hordes migrate. Cuckoos are seen in great numbers and some Isabelline Wheatears are passing by. Come March, other breeds like larks, Hoopoe, pipits, hirundines, wagtails, buntings and warblers come in abundance. Nightingales seem to show up in places of low vegetation and you’ll be surprised you might just encounter it hopping right in front of you in glee a unique behavior compared to their behavior. European breeds are also about to go gushing through the winds to join this bird’s festive moment. Birds don’t just come gliding down through air but water birds has it’s share in this gathering, flocks of ducks come by in early April as well as Cory’s and Mediterranean Shearwater. This is also an interesting moment where the rare skua makes its appearance amidst the flock. Wader birds makes their passage that goes on till May and the latest that comes by would be Broad-billed Sandpiper.
