The Paleontology Museum

Above: Dino Bone in Musem

The Palaeontology Museum is Larnaca’s best kept secret. The museum is positioned on the seafront boulevard at Europe Square which is bordering to the Larnaca Municipal Art Gallery.

This place is particularly interesting to kids who have a fascinated with prehistoric creatures of Cyprus. The Palaeontology Museum is one of the earliest signs of life form in this place for about a hundred million years!

One good thing about this museum is that the children can partake in the Amateur Shell and Fossil Collection by adding several prize shells and then attaining a certificate for that. Children can also find enjoyment all around by seeing bones and other cool stuff that has been uncovered on the island.

The Salt Lake is a good place to check out and if you happen to have with you a pretty good camera; it might come in handy as you take all the shots you wish -for maybe an hour or two.

In order to reach that place coming from Larnaca town, you can drive in the direction going towards the airport. Following the roundabout, carry on till you get to Kiti. Near the roundabout is a sign that will instruct you to take a right turn to the Salt Lake and the mosque – known as the Hala Sultan Tekke.

If only the island has experienced rain, I believe it could be a great representation for a natural studio for photo shoots. For people who would love to have an activity that consists of riding, a good half-day of outing can be done at the Camel Park which happens to be in close proximity in the Mazotos village.

Other activities that families can do together is taking time to watch other smaller animals in the place, taking a dip in the swimming pool and eating at the restaurant. The Palaeontology Museum is a fun-filled place to have great family bonding.
